\nHendrix bridge<\/b>\n<\/h2>

\nThe Green bridge over Sava is Zagreb\u2019s oldest bridge, carrying the capital\u2019s traffic since 1939. Its historic significance is that it had the widest spanning bridge arch of all of railway bridges in Europe when it was first built.\n<\/p>

\n\u00a0It owes its nickname - the Hendrix bridge - to graffiti simply saying \u201cHendrix\u201d, which, despite the city council\u2019s best efforts, kept reappearing on the bridge\u2019s side.\n<\/p>

\n\u00a0The perseverance of the anonymous graffitist has led to the people of Zagreb adopting the Hendrix bridge as the informal name for the bridge. In 2015, a petition to rename the bridge was created, and the city council approved of the new name - however, the graffiti had to go and was replaced by a light installation.\u00a0\n<\/p>

\n\u00a0The bridge has gained cult status, becoming a symbol of Zagreb\u2019s urban pop culture and gaining a place in the collective consciousness of Zagreb\u2019s people, all thanks to the graffiti with the famous rock musician and guitar genius, Jimi Hendrix.\n<\/p>

\n\u00a0This collection preserves the memory of what the bridge used to look like with the original graffiti. A bridge which connects the old and new parts of the city, now reimagined in jewellery form connects the past and the present, symbolises the rebellion of youth, and makes for a fashion accessory with a story.\n<\/p>
